how long can a service like blip last? as a faithful follower of the interwebs i have seen some great sites fall… Oink and Muxtape come to mind. hoping that the tubes dont decide to boot blip off the radar.
so hackintosh concept but running on a live usb key i hand out. getting the usb's laser cut to be the apple and crossbones logo....
so its going to include all of the DNS hack and PACKET shit from BackTrack linux(know about that one? its for hacking wireless...)
so yeah. im working on getting the adobe CS3 suite installed at boot up....

out of curiousity... why slackware?.. why not ubuntu or some debian base? what package manager does slackware use?
3:
14pmChristopher
slapt
it has modules
i really like the ease of use with the web UI of activating modules in slax
im going for a true cloud based OS where your installed apps stay in a database on your user account

lemme look up hackintosh.. i dont know that much about it
3:
17pmChristopher
hackintosh is running a modified version of OS X on an intel machine
cool.. but a lil much for a non geek just looking to get apple feel on a non apple machine
and its impossible to get on a AMD machine... so fuck it
ON TOP OF THAT.... OS X sucks now... its too bloated... there are enough OS replacements like songbird(itunes killer) to no longer need the apple OS in our lives
3:
20pmIan
what about the actual apps...
3:
20pmChristopher
apps like?
3:
20pmIan
seems like the desktop usability is half the story... there is the issue with the apps...
the obvious one is the browser...
3:
20pmChristopher
os x's finder?
3:
20pmIan
but whatever else people want to use??
oh.. no.
i mean user applications...
3:
21pmChristopher
right
3:
21pmIan
i understand the idea of redoing the UI for an OS...
3:
21pmChristopher
its linux.... anything is possible... including running windows applications natively with WINE
3:
21pmIan
but that seems like the apps then are still the same
3:
22pmChristopher
they are OS apps....and they are free...
no more need for paying for itunes songs when you preload the OS with Opera web browser and instructions on how to get music with torrents.....
no more need for photoshop when it ships with GIMP or a hacked version of XP photoshop.....
its giving a true mac feel to the Open Source/FREE OS comunity
gOS is close but too combative to a real geek trying to get work done
3:
24pmIan
does the OSS community want mac feel?
3:
24pmChristopher
the mac community wants an OS replacement and thats enough of a demand
i know a lot of other unhappy apple geeks that are trying every linux under the sun to find a replacement right now.
3:
26pmChristopher
apple is slow on development right now with things like embedded GPS in laptops and netbooks... so geeks are looking for small machines and good free OS choices
